In order to protect wood foundations, people, interior furnishings, and stored food, pest managers in Wyoming must know how to safely control interior and exterior pests.
This course teaches pest managers how to identify and control pests found in residential, industrial, and institutional buildings. Pests discussed in this course include insects, bats, rats, fungi, weeds, mice, and certain birds. The course also gives practical management methods for the pests listed above.
Students who complete this Wyoming Department of Agriculture-approved course will be able to:
- Identify common vertebrate and invertebrate pests and create effective management strategies
- Identify and manage common parasitic, biting, and stinging pests
- Identify common fabric pests and outline how to manage them
- Describe wood-destroying pest damage and explain the importance of treating wood prior to use
- Identify common stored-food pests and know how to avoid them
