Pest ID of Common Landscape, Turf, and Interiorscape Pests | Texas Approval #0931698
Instructor: Sarah Racine
When you take this two-hour course, you’ll learn proven methods for identifying and managing common landscape, turf, and interiorscape pests. All lesson material is approved by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Start the course with an overview of the different pests you’ll encounter, starting with invertebrates. Identify and control arthropods like insects, mites, and spiders with lessons about developmental stages, body structure, and proper treatment strategies.
Then, find out how to deal with vertebrate pests like rabbits, gophers, and moles. Disease-causing pathogens like bacteria, fungi, and viruses are discussed too.
Part of the course covers weeds and other nuisance plants. Lessons examine obstacles that prevent proper control and clarify why dandelions, crabgrass, and clover spread so rapidly. This section of the course also explains the life cycle, classification, development, and physical features (flowers, leaves, stems, roots, and seeds) of weeds.
Lastly, the course explains how to identify and manage specific environmental pests.
Interiorscape pests discussed include:
- Spider mites
- Fungus gnats
- Aphids
- Mealybugs
For landscape and turf, find out how to control:
- Japanese beetles
- Deer
- Master grubs
- Cutworms
- Moles and voles
Quizzes appear throughout the course to make sure you can remember and apply what you’ve learned when on the job.
Texas pest control specialists who complete this course will gain a new understanding for the pest identification and control methods needed to maintain vigorous and vibrant plant settings.
