Pest ID of Common Landscape, Turf, and Interiorscape Pests | Oklahoma Approval #OK20230878
Instructor: Sarah Racine
When you take this two-hour course, you’ll learn how to identify and control common pests found in interiorscape, landscape, and turf settings. Course material is approved by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
The course begins with an overview of common pest types. Invertebrates like arthropods (insects, spiders, mites, and others) are first with lessons that describe body structure, developmental stages, and proper treatment strategies.
Vertebrate pest control is next with strategies for gophers, rabbits, and moles. Disease-causing pathogens like fungi, bacteria, and viruses are also discussed.
Discover effective ways to fight weeds and other nuisance plants by learning about the obstacles that prevent proper control. Learn why crabgrass, dandelions, and clover spread so rapidly. A weed’s life cycles, classification, development, and physical features (flowers, leaves, stems, roots, and seeds) are also explained.
Finish the course with explanations on how to identify and manage specific pests in different environments.
Interiorscape pests discussed include:
- Spider mites
- Aphids
- Fungus gnats
- Mealybugs
- For landscape and turf, learn how to manage:
- Moles and voles
- Japanese beetles
- Cutworms
- Master grubs
- Deer
Throughout the course, you’ll need to complete quizzes. They are designed to confirm you’ve retained the lesson material and that you can apply what you’ve learned on the job.
Oklahoma pesticide applicators who finish this course will be able to identify and control common pests that threaten vibrant plant settings.
