Instructor: Sarah Racine
This course, approved by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, is designed to teach the students about invasive pests of field crops and how an applicator can effectively treat pest invasions while protecting themselves and the environment from the adverse effects of pesticides.
Pesticides are intended to protect plants and animals from insects, weeds, and diseases. When used properly, they can also improve the efficiency of food, feed, and fiber production and provide greater crop yields.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Operate and properly calibrate various types of application equipment.
- Identify invasive pests of field crop plants, including insects, weeds, and diseases.
- Outline strategies of Integrated Pest Management systems.
