Common Pests of Residential, Industrial & Institutional Structures | Nevada Approval #NV-23-211
Instructor: Sarah Racine
This Nevada Department of Agriculture-approved course describes interior and exterior pests found in institutional, industrial, and residential buildings. The course also gives best practices for managing common pests, including insects, rats, bats, weeds, fungi, mice, and some birds.
After infesting structures, these pests can spread diseases that cause serious human illness, infest stored food or other items, and damage structural wood, furnishings, or fabrics. To ensure safety, pest managers must control pests that can damage property, infect or injure people, or affect quality of life.
After completing this course, pest managers Nevada will be able to:
- Describe wood-destroying pest damage and explain the importance of treating wood prior to use
- Identify common stored-food pests and how to avoid them
- Identify common vertebrate and invertebrate pests and outline management strategies
- Identify and manage common parasitic, biting, and stinging pests
- Identify common fabric pests and outline how to manage them
