The Effective Pesticide Applications in Landscape and Turf Settings course, approved by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, focuses on the advantages and factors to consider when creating an integrated pest management (IPM) program.
The course includes a range of pest management techniques, including augmentation, pesticide use, mechanical and cultural control, and sanitation.
Students will also learn:
- Liquid pesticide application equipment and calibration
- Techniques for applying granule pesticides, tree injection and implantation, and baits/traps
- How to maintain pesticide application equipment
- How to determine the amount of pesticide needed based on pesticide type and area size.
Learning Objectives:
- Determine how to maintain and calibrate pesticide application equipment.
- Understand the different pest management approaches that comprise an IPM.
- Be able to explain how to utilize granule pesticides, tree injection and implantation and baits/traps.
- Know the types of pesticide application equipment used in landscape, turf, and interiorscape settings.
