Pest managers in New Mexico must know how to control interior and exterior pests to protect wood foundations, keep people healthy, and prevent damage to interior furnishings.
This course teaches pest managers how to identify and manage pests found in industrial, institutional, and residential buildings. The types of pests covered in this course include weeds, mice, insects, rats, bats, fungi, and certain birds.
Students who complete this New Mexico Department of Agriculture-approved course will be able to:
- Identify common vertebrate and invertebrate pests
- Describe wood-destroying pest damage and explain the importance of treating wood prior to use
- Identify common parasitic, biting, and stinging pests and know how to manage them
- Identify and manage common fabric pests Identify common stored-food pests and know how to avoid them
