Review of Pesticide Use Hazards | North Carolina DACS Approved

This one-credit course, approved by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, teaches pest managers the hazards of pesticides and how to mitigate the dangers of toxic exposure.
Pest managers will learn to recognize the many hazards to the environment and wildlife presented by improper pesticide use, including water contamination, plant damage, human exposure, injury to pets and other effects on non-target organisms.
To master the signs of hazardous pesticide exposure, this class teaches pest managers the three categories of pesticide toxicity, factors that govern toxicity and designations based on use method. Protect humans and animals alike with a breakdown of the symptoms of toxic exposure and tests for toxicity determination.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- State appropriate measures to take in case of pesticide accidents.
- Recognize strategies to minimize excessive pesticide exposure risk to pets, plants and the environment.
- Describe the characteristics of various pesticide formulations.
- Explain pesticide toxicity and the different hazards of human pesticide exposure.
