Review of Pesticide Use Hazards | Montana Approval #000C5S
Instructor: Sarah Racine
Containing crucial training on the toxicity and hazards of pesticides, this one-credit course prepares pest managers to minimize dangerous pesticide exposure to humans, animals, and the environment.
Uncontrolled or accidental exposure to pesticides can lead to contamination of surface and groundwater, phytotoxicity in plants, injury to pets and impacts to non-target wildlife organisms.
From the three categories of toxicity, factors that influence toxicity and the designation of pesticides based on their intended use, this course prepares you to identify possible dangers before hazardous exposure occurs. Animal testing for toxicity determination and human toxicity exposure are covered, too.
After completing this course participants will be able to:
- State appropriate measures to take in case of pesticide accidents.
- Explain pesticide toxicity and the different hazards of human pesticide exposure.
- Describe the characteristics of various pesticide formulations.
- Recognize strategies to minimize excessive pesticide exposure risk to pets, plants and the environment.
