IPM Practices for Landscape Pest Management | Michigan DARD Approved

The Effective Pesticide Applications in Landscape and Turf Settings course focuses on the advantages and factors to consider when creating an integrated pest management (IPM) program for Michigan pesticide applicators.

The course includes a range of pest management techniques, including augmentation, mechanical and cultural control, sanitation, and pesticide use. Michigan students also learn about liquid pesticide application equipment and calibration, as well as techniques for applying baits/traps, granule pesticides, and tree injection and implantation.

Additionally, students gain information on maintaining pesticide application equipment and determining the amount of pesticide needed based on pesticide type and area size.

After taking this course, Michigan pesticide applicators will be able to:

• Understand the different pest management approaches that comprise an IPM.
• Be able to explain how to utilize granule pesticides, tree injection and implantation, and baits/traps.
• Know the types of pesticide application equipment used in landscape, turf, and interiorscape settings.
• Determine how to maintain and calibrate pesticide application equipment.
