This course in forest pest management is approved by the Maryland Department of Agriculture Pesticide Regulation Section. It provides two hours of continuing education credits as it prepares you to deal with the unique challenges of pest control in a forest environment.

Safety comes first, including the principles of Worker Protection Standards (WPS) discussed in this course. Learn your responsibilities and the responsibilities of your employer during pest control operations, including the PPE that must be made available to you and the pesticide disclosures that must be posted to your worksite.

Familiarize yourself with the dangers of excessive heat exposure. This course helps you recognize and avoid the dangers of heat stress and provides you with tools to manage heat-related illnesses.

In addition to safety information, this course teaches important lessons in tool use and maintenance. You will learn more about sprayers and nozzles, from calibration techniques for new and existing components to application methods for broadcast sprayers and banding calibration. More effective tool use helps you minimize pesticide drift and achieve uniform application for best results.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:
