Pest managers in Massachusetts must know how to safely control interior and exterior pests to protect people, wood foundations, interior furnishings, and stored food.
This course teaches pest managers how to properly identify and manage pests found in industrial, residential, and institutional buildings. Pests discussed include insects, rats, bats, fungi, weeds, mice, and certain birds.
Students who complete this course, which is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, will be able to:
- Properly and safely manage interior and exterior pests
- Identify common vertebrate and invertebrate pests
- Describe wood-destroying pest damage and explain the importance of treating wood prior to use
- Identify common parasitic, biting, and stinging pests
- Identify common fabric pests
- Identify common stored-food pests
