Management of Woodpeckers

There are many species of woodpeckers and they are all protected, so managing them requires careful and diligent observation. This course will cover differences between species and common behaviors. It will also cover many non-lethal methods of control and legal requirements for lethal control. 

After completing this course participants will be able to:

• Adhere to the environmental protection of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and permit process for lethal control.
• Observe and understand the species and behaviors of woodpeckers to control them effectively.
• Assess and use the safest and most appropriate control method for each situation.
